CONCORD expresses our shock and deep sadness at the killing yesterday of Jo Cox MP.
Jo worked tirelessly to make the world a better place. She served with Oxfam GB including the Oxfam EU office from 2001 to 2009 (while she was head of the office, Oxfam became a member of CONCORD). Jo was committed to an internationalist and European approach to global justice.

What did the General Assembly 2016 bring to us?

CONCORD Europe organised its General Assembly on 13 and 14 June 2016 in Brussels. The main topic of the whole event was “CONCORD facing shrinking civic space in a Europe in crisis”. Learning and exchange was at the heart of the agenda and members have addressed key questions which Civil Society is facing today: gender, paradigm shift, civic space, inclusiveness… Members took also the time to reflect on the new strategy endorsed one year ago.

What kind of partnerships for the Agenda 2030?

Partnerships are at the heart of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Taking part in the “How to make SDGs Europe’s Business“ conference, Seamus Jeffreson, CONCORD director, has elaborated some key recommendations for the successful implementation of Agenda 2030 which depends on a new way of perceiving partnerships.

Time for a visionary EU Global Strategy

In June this year, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini will review the “EU Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy” to guide the European Union’s global actions in the future. CONCORD asks the drafting team to adopt a long-term vision rooted in human rights and the promotion of sustainable development within and outside of the EU.
